Self-Improvement
September · Word of the Month
This month's word is SELF-IMPROVEMENT. Self-improvement means intentionally getting better — in Taekwondo, in school, and in taking care of your body through exercise and good nutrition.
🌱 What is self-improvement?
Self-improvement covers the whole child: skills (like a Taekwondo technique or a school subject), the body (exercise), and fuel (nutrition). All three work together to help kids grow stronger and more capable.
📖 Examples for this age
- ●Practicing a Taekwondo skill that isn't easy yet
- ●Working on a school subject that's a bit harder
- ●Choosing a healthy food because it fuels your body
- ●Getting outside to move and exercise
💬 Try asking your child
- ●What is one thing in your Taekwondo training you would like to improve?
- ●What subject do you wish you were better at, and how could you improve?
- ●What are some healthy foods you like to eat?
💡 Try This At Home
Frame self-improvement as a normal, ongoing part of life — not something only kids who are 'behind' need. Model it yourself out loud: "I'm working on getting better at ___ too."
"A little better every day adds up to a lot." Name one thing you're each working on improving.
