Respect
May · Word of the Month
This month we are learning about RESPECT! Respect means treating people, ourselves, and our belongings with care. Bowing to your instructor, listening when someone talks, and being gentle with others are all ways your child shows respect.
🙇 What is respect?
Respect means treating others the way you'd want to be treated — listening when they talk, being gentle, and following the rules of our dojang, like bowing to our instructors.
📖 Examples of respect for this age
- ●Listening when someone is talking to you
- ●Bowing to your instructor
- ●Being gentle with toys and belongings
- ●Waiting patiently for your turn
💬 Try asking your child
- ●Who is someone you respect, and why?
- ●How do you show respect at Taekwondo class?
- ●What does it feel like when someone doesn't listen to you?
💡 Try This At Home
Respect is caught more than taught — model it by listening fully when your child speaks to you, even about small things. They'll mirror the respect they receive.
"I listen, I bow, I show respect!" Practice a respectful bow together this week.
