Confidence
March · Word of the Month
This month's word is CONFIDENCE. Confidence means trusting yourself to try, even when you're not sure you'll get it right the first time. It's different from bragging — it's a quiet, steady kind of belief that grows through practice.
🥋 What is confidence?
Confidence isn't about being the best at something. It's trusting that you can handle trying — even if it isn't perfect. A positive attitude and enthusiasm both grow out of that trust.
📖 Examples for this age
- ●Trying a new kick in front of the class
- ●Raising a hand even if the answer might be wrong
- ●Introducing yourself to someone new
- ●Performing a form that's been practiced many times
💬 Try asking your child
- ●What's something you feel confident about, and how did you get there?
- ●What's the difference between confidence and bragging?
- ●What helps you feel confident before trying something new?
💡 Try This At Home
Confidence is built through repetition, not pep talks. The fastest way to help your child feel confident about something is to give them low-pressure chances to practice it before it's tested for real.
"Confidence is built, not born." Talk about one thing your child has built confidence in this year.
