It's easy to be polite when things are going well. The real test of courtesy is staying kind and respectful when you're frustrated, upset, or competitive — like after a tough loss in sparring.

Point out real-life examples of courtesy under pressure when you see them — a good sport after a loss, someone staying calm in a frustrating line. Naming it out loud helps your child recognize the pattern in themselves.

"Courtesy costs nothing, but it isn't always free to give." Ask your child what that means to them.
