Goals
January · Word of the Month
This month we are learning about GOALS! A goal is something you really want to do or learn. Every time your child earns a stripe in Taekwondo class, that is a goal they worked toward!
🥋 What is a goal?
A goal is like picking a place you want to walk to, and then taking steps to get there! Goals are like stairs — you go up one step at a time. Each time your child practices their kicks or forms, they are climbing a step toward their goal!
📖 Examples of goals for this age
- ●Learning to tie their own shoes
- ●Practicing a kick until it feels easy
- ●Counting all the way to 20
- ●Making a new friend at school
- ●Sleeping in their own bed all night
💬 Try asking your child
- ●What is something you really want to learn how to do?
- ●How did it feel the last time you got better at something hard?
- ●Who helps you when something feels too difficult?
💡 Try This At Home
Pick one small goal with your child this week — like doing 5 jumping jacks or learning a new kick. Add a sticker to a chart each time they practice. Celebrate every try, not just when they get it perfectly right!
"I can do hard things, one step at a time!" Say this together and see who can say it the loudest!
